We’re home sweet home, happy and tired after a fantastic holiday over in Western Australia!
Flo and Mackie hadn’t seen each other since she was about 10 weeks old. At that point he was bigger than she was. The first time she saw him she ran under the car to hide; she hasn’t been able to fit under the car for a looooooooooong time! While their owners sat enjoying some of the local Margaret River produce (hic!) and swimming with dolphins in the ocean, Mackie and Flo ran each other ragged.

There was quite a bit of this….

and a lot of this…

The fabulous one is very much a tropical dog now, so there was a requirement for a little thermal assistance in the evenings so that Her Fabulousness could sleep without whimpering.
Flo didn’t get to see or do this, but I did and it was AMAZING!

We went out into the ocean with our snorkels and found ourselves surrounded by dolphins. There are FAR worse things that we could’ve been surrounded by in the ocean over there, so it was a great relief that the dorsal fins belonged to some friendly cetaceans! They came so close to us, it was a real treat.

Finally, we went a little further north and met up with Flo’s Grandad. He’s a handsome fellow, but his behaviour was decidedly inappropriate given their close relatedness!

Even though the pool has turned an unusual shade of brown and I’ve fished at least one dead lizard out of it, though there may well be more lurking in the depths – I’ll find out tomorrow when the pump and chlorine start to have an effect – we’re happy to be home with George and Fergus, who are probably wondering why Flo got a holiday and they got sent to the Cat Castle. Both have been very vocal since being picked up.
Miss Fab is clearly exhausted, there was not a lot of running around on our evening walk, and she’s now completely flaked out. A tired puppy is a good puppy.

I’m glad to hear you and Flo had such a grand time. It looks like the dogs were very well behaved to be allowed to be on the beach without leash.
It’s cool to see Flo with her Grandfather, did you notice any of her traits were from him?
Yay for vacations!
There are a few off-lead dog beaches in the area where we were, but the other beaches have a strict on-lead policy and it is well policed. I was also really impressed that there were doggy poo bags almost everywhere we went – at every park and beach entrance – it’s certainly not like that here – I’ve never seen any poo bags; I buy my own at the supermarket. As for Flo’s grandfather – she does look quite like him but his head is HUGE! I also got to meet Flo’s mother and she is very like her, except that Flo is bigger. Much bigger. She must’ve inherited granddad’s big bones.
Hey Flo, Jet here.
What a pawesome holiday. You look like you had the BEST time with Mackie. whoo hoo.
Mom asked me to share that she was a tad envious of your human since besides K9s and felines (of course), she has been drawn to dolphins all her life. Yes, dolphin dorsals beat out any other kind, fins down! Your human’s pictures were special. Mom swam with wild dolphins about 10 years ago in this place called Bimini, Bahamas…
Miss Fab, enjoy the wonders of your home with fresh eyes… and nose!
Flo, all I can say is that you are one hugely lucky girl. That looks like the best holiday ever!!!
Woofs,
Tommy

Wow, what a fabulous vacation. Seeing the Dolphins close up must have been amazing. I hope Flo’s frisky Grandad was not too much of a handful!

Hey Flo. Sounds you had an ace time in beautiful sunny WA. Glad you got your much deserved royal treatment in the evenings- there’s nothing like having to demand some covers when you are cold. Too bad George and Fergus missed out on your amazing adventures
