The Gang’s Back Together!

Exciting news!  Last year, one of our gang members set off to move to another state.  It was supposed to be a permanent move… after all it was a LONG drive and not one you’d want to repeat.  BUT… today they arrived back.  They missed us all so much that they came back.  Hurrah.

Flo and I arrived a little after everyone else but apparently the reunion between Cody and the gang went well and by the time we’d got there they were all running around as though they’d only seen each other last week.  Flo was a little wary to begin with – the tail was straight between the legs and she ran away, but in no time at all they were playing together just like the old days!

Welcome back handsome!

Where’ve you been?

The dry season is upon us.  It’s interesting, we say we have 2 seasons; wet and dry.  The local Gundjeihmi-speaking people of Kakadu divide the year into 6 seasons depending on the wildlife and plants that are around, and what the weather is doing.  No matter whose calendar you’re looking at, we are now entering our coolest part of the year.  This means the relative humidity drops from ‘mouldy everything’ to ‘where the **** is my lip balm’.  We have slightly cooler days (I don’t think it even reached 30 degrees yesterday) and overnight it gets relatively cold – which usually means about 17 or 18 degrees here, but much cooler a little inland.  You know you’re coming into the dry season (Yegge ) when …

George starts making warm nests in piles of clothes and blankets…

then ignores his nests and sleeps under the covers for 7 hours at a stretch…

The humans get the fleecy pjs and baffies out of the ‘winter’ box

And finally…. apparently hell has frozen over (in Fergus’ world, anyway)

… this has never happened before.

That’s so cool to have your friend back home! And that last pic is priceless! Stay warm!

  2. Declan Greyhound says:

Do you think the cooler weather has frozen Fergus’ brain?!! Deccy x

  3. I love that your cooler weather means high 20s lol. Hurrah for your friend coming back. I hate it when friends leave, I’m so bad at making them, each one is a big part of my heart.

Okay, enough silliness. Hope you’re having a great Sunday x

Isn’t it ridiculous how pathetic we all are?! The living room is strewn with blankets because it’s just soooooo cold! And can you believe I actually looked at dog coats yesterday – Flo had been whimpering during the night, which is what she does when she’s cold. They were $50 so, needless to say, last night Flo went to sleep under a pile of blankets instead of a nice new fleecy coat – you can take the girl out of Scotland… :D

Brrrr! Sleeping in a pack should keep you warmer. Welcome back friends.

How great for Flo to have her friend back! Keep warm! :)

  6. It’s always FABULOUS when old friends return!

    Love the photo with Fergus!

  7. Jodi Stone says:

My dogs rarely touch each other when they sleep, never mind adding the cat to the mix!!

Our bedroom is so cold in the winter that I swear one day I will see my breath. We cuddle up under electric blankets and it is one of the reasons we have large dogs. :-)

I’m glad your friends are back, that must have been a good time!

    • Flo says:

Brrrr. It’s hard to imagine being that cold again… it’s amazing what you get used to. I think all that photo demonstrates is what a bunch of lightweights we’ve all become – honestly, the temperature was probably 20 degrees when that was taken, but when you’re a little cat that’s used to 32 degrees – it’s all relative!

  8. Hey Flo, Jet here.

We’re so glad you have one of your friends back! Cody looks like a swell pal. Our friend, Sampson moved to Arizona almost a year ago and we still pull Mom towards his yard, hoping he’ll be there to play…

    • Flo says:

Awwww. Maybe he’ll come back too. Or you could move to Arizona… it’s lovely there too, only stinking hot.

      • Hey Flo, Jet here.

His Mom comes back and his Dad lives here mostly because of his work… so, I agree, there’s still hope… yup, it’s hot there without the humidity we have here in the steamy tropics…

  9. How nice to have your old friend back! He is a handsome boy!
