This week, Flo went to doggy daycare for the first time. Once a month the garden rubbish is collected and up until now I’ve always taken Flo to a friend’s house so that she didn’t either escape or scare the living daylights out of the unsuspecting, hairy blokes whilst they carried out the job. Given her behaviour the last time I left her at someone else’s house (refer to her apology letter in ‘Sorry for Being a Turd‘) I decided I wasn’t game to give her the chance of a repeat performance. So, doggy daycare it had to be. The Furry Godmother very kindly opened up a little earlier than usual so that I could drop Her Fabulousness off on my way to work and, while I booked her in, she was placed in a little holding pen. Apparently her imprisonment did not sit well with Miss Fab. Well, Puss in Boots eat your heart out. She went the whole nine yards with the eyes, the wrinkles and a (slightly pathetic) plaintif cry as I left. Then she ran round like a nutter all day with the other dogs and didn’t want to come home when I went to collect her. Win.
And yes, peace still reigns.

And now for something completely different…
I nipped downstairs to take the washing in this morning while Flo was having her brekkie (otherwise she would have kindly done the whole ingathering of washing trick using nothing but her jaws) and noticed a frog sitting on one of the plants in the (oh so wonderfully lined) pond, so I thought I’d take a couple of photos. He won’t be there long as the sun rises and the temperature follows. Then I thought I’d go and check out some of the green tree frog fave spots and found the noisy old sod who frequently out-croaks the tv volume on a rainy night – that pipe is a great amplifier! I continued to wander around the garden with my lovely assistant, taking a few more photos in the warm, early morning light. I liked some of the shots so thought I’d post them.

Glad Flo enjoyed Doggie Day Care. That frog in the pipe is too funny – I guess unless you’re trying to get him to stay quiet.
Here in the NT, where there’s a pipe, there’s a frog. If you like green tree frogs, then the local paper, the NT News (where the ‘N T’ stands for ‘not the’), is posting photos of them on their facebook site at the moment… some of them are quite funny. There are a few other frogs round the garden too, but to get their photos involves standing in leaf litter which disturbs the mozzies and I didn’t really want to turn a pleasurable photography exercise into a swear-fest. I reckon I could get a little frog orchestra going with frogs in different lengths of pipe. I reckon that’d be a winner. Shhhh, don’t tell Paul McCartney.

We will endeavour to get more pics over the wet season… our friend in the pipe often sticks his head out during the day if it rains!

Thanks Jodi. Yes, I think I’ll send her again but I’m not sure it’ll be a weekly thing. Maybe when we’ve had a spate of rainy days and she’s missed out on play time with the gang like a couple of weeks back – she had A LOT of energy stored up and consequently did a bit of unpopular chewing! Though in all honesty it could have been worse.
Duh, that should be add, I was just reading comments on the McDonald’s ad. 🙂
So very cool~~the garden friends pics…summer is in full mode I see…can’t wait for some spring at least here! Really no complaints because ol’ man winter was a wimp this year…knock on wood! Flo will enjoy Day Care even more the next time…so sweet!

Nice beasty shots. Very Attenborough. Green tree frogs are my favourite. I love they way they feel. Unfortunately, we don’t have any in our little yard. We do have 1 frog that looks a lot like the one in your first 2 pics. His name is Alfred, and he’s the sole survivor of a whole bunch of tadpoles I bought at the local markets. There was 1 other, Agatha, but she got run over or smashed by a cat. We found her on the road side 😦
Are the cicadas still out at your place? Seems like there were less this year, maybe because of the weather. It would suck to sleep for 17 years and wake up to the summer of 2012!
Glad Fab likes daycare. One day, we should be brave and try the same.
Oh oh oh. Just watching The Code which I recorded last night and they’re talking about cicadas and their 12 year cycle. Now why did I think it was 17?
I think there is a cicada that has a 17 year life cycle as well (and/or poss 11 years)… I haven’t done the the maths and this is from a very sketchy, old memory but I think that means that they’ll never be up at the same time… don’t know my 17 times table and may be publicly humiliated if somebody less lazy or more clever wants to work it out, but I can take a bit of public humiliation, I have broad shoulders – either that or I don’t care. 🙂 I quite like the idea of sleeping for 12 years. Yawn.
Misery loves your frog shot. She used to have frogs in her pond in the UK. Myself I love the wrinkly face photo. Brilliant.

Thank you. The cats don’t think Flo’s that great. Cross-species (and inter-species) peace is a fairly recent development in our household! Long may it continue.
