Monday Mischeif – You Think You’re So Tough!

We’ve yet to find a stuffie that’s a match for Flo. This one looked hopeful.

The gauntlet has been thrown

Challenge accepted - first blood to Flo

The stuffing has landed

Whaaat? I won. What do you mean it wasn't a competition?

Humpf. Mighty Tough? My a*se.

In fairness to the company that makes this, it was tougher than the other ones we’ve tried, and it’s not the toughest one they manufacture.  Flo did throw it around a fair bit before settling in to the chew.  The eagle had not only an achilles heel, but an achilles neck too.  I might try the tougher one out of interest.

Flo and Daisy are two of a kind when it comes to toy destruction! There’s not a Kong or Tuffy toy made that has withstood Daisy’s torturous teeth. We have to stick to Nylabones (the hardest ones, not the regular ones) almost excusively!

  2. Jen says:

Yeah, we don’t buy stuffed toys for Elka, unless it’s to use them in a highly supervised, small increments manner. For exactly the same reason! The Eagle was cool looking, though.

  3. Bassetmomma says:

BOL! Flo you sure destuffed that eagle!! We haven’t found a toy Freddie can’t chew apart!

  4. Someone has it out for the Stuffie – ha!

  5. Jodi Stone says:

Sometimes they last a really long time in our house, but then someone gets destruction in mind and it’s all over. I don’t know of a good stuffie.

  6. wantmorepuppies says:

Hehe… Flo should be a professional toy tester. 🙂

  7. Good god. Did that even last a day? You should send an email with this post to the company. Maybe they’ll send you a lifetime worth of stuffies just to keep you quiet 😉

  8. Wazeau says:

Oh man now that is a dead bird. Extinct even.

  9. Paws To Talk says:

Maybe Flo should try chewing on a brick next given her jaw strength? 🙂 just kidding.

Love the pictures! I’ve given up on the plush toys for my pups. Have you tried antlers for dogs? I’ve heard they are very durable, but I’ve yet to try them.

    Thanks for sharing!

Alright so I know you are a ways away but I will throw some brands at you to check out..

Plenty of google search options for deer/elk antlers unless your country will not even let you import them. (Google: Yellowstone elk antler dog chews… yellowstone is in the name and they sell them by the lb which is a much better deal than in stores)

Look up Kyjen toy brands they have all sorts of creative weird tuff toys. White Dog Bone is a favorite company of mine and they have quite a few “tuff” toys.

Many of these toys are not meant to be chewed on, though many have the double layer fabric and sewing jobs, they are classified as tuff usually because of tugging and general durability. I bet you could work on Flo playing with her toys more gently. Luna has learned what “dont eat it” means with her toys, “which basically is spit it forward in your mouth away from your molars” lol. It can be done it just takes a lot of work sometimes.

What about making her some braided fleece toys? those are a fun way for her to have soft toys without breaking the bank.

    Good luck!

    • Flo says:

Thanks Anna! I have made some of my own braided toys, but they’re really only fun for tug play. She is an interesting chewer – she doesn’t destroy just using her molars, she actually gets going with her incisors and does more damage with them… when I see her doing that with a stuffie it spells the end for the toy so I usually say no or take it away.

Thanks for those websites – they are new to me. I’ll definitely be checking them out!

As for the antlers – Australia has some of the toughest importation and quarantine regulations in the world – we can’t import those sorts of things at all. 😦

Hilarious! I love the confident words on the label – “rethink durability” and “mighty strong”. I think the manufacturer needs to “rethink durability” 🙂

  13. Flo, you are a cutie! You remind me of our Sammy and he is pretty tough on his toys too!
