A Trip To Katherine Spells Humiliation For Fab

This week we’ve been off galavanting to view some of the amazing places and things the Northern Territory planet has to offer.  This week we were down in the Katherine region, which is about 3 hours drive south of Darwin.  It was fantastic, despite getting caught up in police roadblocks as they hunt an armed & dangerous (alleged) murderer, and the temperatures being ridiculously cold after dark.  Here’s a taster.

Sunrise at Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge

Nitmiluk Gorge

40,000 year old rock art

Cruising the Gorge

Peregrine falcon

Bitter Springs thermal pools at Mataranka

Spotlighting freshwater crocs (Crocodylus johnstoni) at night

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Flo was left in the care of Aunty M. Aunty M thinks she’s funny.

Please don’t leave me again. Ever. Please.

It’s okay though, we put the antlers on Aunty M’s 7 month old and took photos of her when Aunty M wasn’t looking.  🙂

Oh come on Flo where’s your sense of humour…snigger…. Your trip looks good. Can you be homesick for a country you spent 6 months in 18 years ago?!!

  2. It’s been 33 years since I went to Katherine. I had no idea it’s now called Nitmiluk. Mataranka… I believe I had a paddle there. What memories. I was stll young and single and had the hots for the coach driver as did the other young girls on the bus lol.

Beautiful pictures! I really like the rock art, I always think that’s so neat. I think they just more accurately dated one of the sites of rock art in Spain, though I can’t remember which one.

The antlers are pretty cute 😉
