A Neglected Blog

Sigh.

There are many reasons for neglecting the blog… Elsie is exhausting; visitors; a new toy phone; life.  Anyway.  Although I haven’t been around, I notice that everyone else has… I’m fairly certain that most posts will have to remain unread, so I’ll just apologise for that now.

All animals are present and correct.  Typhoon Elsie had her last vaccination just over a week ago so we shall be out walking on Friday.  She’s met a few of the other gang members and it seems that they got on fine.  We’ll see how she gets on when she meets them en masse.  We’ll see how Flo goes as well… will she be peeved that Princess Annoying has muscled in on her mates, or will she be relieved that someone else is getting their head jumped on?  Who knows.  Watch this space.  On the topic of  Typhoon Elsie, I found a pile of vertebrae in a puddle of vomit the other day.  While they looked incredibly similar to those owned by the late, recently consumed crocodile, I’m fairly sure that they aren’t from a croc this time, but I do believe they are from a close relative… maybe one of the larger lizards that enjoys life (or not, in this case) in the garden.  Yet another reminder, were it needed, that Elsie ate an animal that is listed on Appendix II of the Cites Convention…

Roll on Friday.  🙂

We’ve gone up a bed size… though Elsie usually ends up with it to herself.

And the most glamorous thing I have ever got my paws on is a dead sparrow. *sigh* Deccy x

Maaaaaaate… I found Flo with a bird’s head in her mouth this morning – but I don’t think either of them were responsible for that particular exit from this world… I’m not sure what sort of bird it was, but it def wasn’t a sparrow. The crocodile was not a pleasant find, though I was pleased it wasn’t a cane toad she was eating. 🙂

PS Not sure if you’ll read this but am having trouble commenting on your blog… possibly just being thick… but. can’t. do. it. Grrr.

OMG you better keep your eyes on that one! I keep telling Delilah she’s going to eat something that will kill her, but so far she hasn’t shown an interest in killing and eating small animals.

    I can’t believe how big she’s gotten!!

Tell me about it… this one has been hard work! She’s been getting by on her looks for a while! I’m glad D doesn’t look for little creatures… labs will eat pretty much anything won’t they?!

Elsie always keeps you hopping, doesn’t she?! 😉 I’m glad those “snacks” didn’t harm her in any way. Our dogs haven’t been too interested in eating the visitors in our yard, but they have always liked chasing butterflies and catching anything that flies. Interesting how different dogs can be!

  4. Let’s hope she NEVER goes the cane toad route but if she does… Bicarbonate soda and flush the mouth! (in case the zoologist doesn’t know this.) TE (I like her new name) looks like a boa herself. Is that a bump in her belly? I also pray she doesn’t become a connoisseur of socks like one of our neighbourhood dogs. At least small animals get digested 😉

I haven’t been blogging either and am not missing it. Oh oh. I feel very guilty though. I just started catching up on some favourite blogs yesterday. Sigh too. I must, I must…

One of Flo’s full siblings had a penchant for socks… he had to have a few removed surgically. Little did his owners know that he’d buried a whole stash around the garden and so consequently he had to have another few removed. I reckon they should’ve just put a bit of velcro in his side rather than stitching him up! I really hope she’s not a hunter… I’d hate to see all our lovely lizards disappear.

Rose gave me some goods tips in the cane toad aversion department. I liberally doused the leg of a dead toad (which had been adopted as a play thing) with tabasco sauce. It seems Elsie has a taste for tabasco! I drowned it a few times and each time the leg would be moved to a new and unexpected spot for me to stand on after dark. Maybe the sauce didn’t soak in because it was a bit dessicated already? I don’t know. Will not give up. 🙂

As for the blogging thing – don’t feel guilty, sometimes that’s just the way it has to be, though I have to say yours is one of the ones I go looking for! I hope the fearsome pig dog is behaving herself.

The photo proves it – even cyclones have a lull!! 🙂

    • Flo says:

… short lull. Poor Flo cops most of it, bless her. Come on Friday. 🙂 BTW, see the above comment to the Typist re cane toads and tabasco… I have to say every time I stand on that stupid leg it makes me laugh out loud. 🙂

  6. Welcome Back! The pup has grown – WOW!!! Happy Tuesday:)

  7. kpenter says:

Welcome back! I too have been blog neglecting. Oh well. A few weeks ago Dina snatched up a dead bird from the ground and it seemed like it happened ina blink of an eye. The poo the next day looked questionable but she’s as bouncy as ever. I’ll never understand the stomach of a dog!

  8. Bassetmomma says:

Oh how you must love to look at pictures of dear sweet “Typhoon Elsie” sleeping! I bet Flo can’t wait to tag her friends in keeping Elsie “occupied”. I don’t think my stomach could take seeing a reptile vertebrae in puke…ewwwwwww!!

  9. Hey Flo, Hey Elsie, Jet here. Hi Miss H.

Wow, so much going on… no worries, we get backlogged too! In fact we blogged about that yesterday. Elsie got so big since we saw her last… hard to believe the little angel is now a swirling typhoon! We agree with Miss Janet above, YUK!

Good luck on the walk, we look forward to updates. 🙂
